Every vly project includes basic monitoring out of the box. For production apps with significant traffic, add a dedicated observability platform.

Built-in

Deployment logs

Build output, type errors, deploy status. Live in the deploy dashboard.

Function logs

Console output from Convex functions. Filterable by function, environment, severity.

Error tracking

Uncaught errors in the frontend and Convex functions. Stack traces, breadcrumbs.

Basic metrics

Request count, latency p50/p95/p99, error rate. Per environment.

For production-grade observability

Add one (or more) of:

Sentry

Error tracking + performance monitoring with rich context.

PostHog

Product analytics + session replay. Tracks user behavior, not just errors.

Datadog

Enterprise-grade APM, logs, metrics, alerting in one place.

LogSnag

Lightweight event tracking and notifications.

Alerting

vly’s built-in alerts:
  • Deploy failures (email to workspace owner)
  • Build errors persisting for 1 hour
  • Function error rate > 5% for 5 minutes
  • Storage / credit usage thresholds
For richer alerting (PagerDuty, Slack, etc.), use Sentry / Datadog integrations.

What to monitor

Sentry

Error tracking deep dive.

Performance issues

Diagnosing what monitoring surfaces.

Status page

vly’s own status.
