# LemonSqueezy

> Merchant-of-record payments. Handles tax, VAT, and compliance globally — a turnkey alternative to Stripe + Stripe Tax.

[LemonSqueezy](https://www.lemonsqueezy.com) is a merchant-of-record (MoR). It handles tax, VAT, currency conversion, and compliance for global sales — useful for digital products and SaaS sold internationally.

## When to pick over Stripe

* You sell digital goods globally and don't want to handle VAT yourself.
* You want a simpler-than-Stripe checkout experience.

## When Stripe is better

* You're US-only or your tax situation is simple.
* You need Stripe Connect for marketplaces.
* You want maximum extensibility.

## Setup
