# AWS S3

> Object storage. Use when Convex's 100 MB file limit isn't enough or you need region-specific storage.

[AWS S3](https://aws.amazon.com/s3) is the standard for cloud object storage. Use as an alternative to Convex file storage for very large files (>100 MB) or specific compliance needs.

## When to pick over Convex storage

* Files larger than 100 MB.
* Multipart uploads for very large files.
* Region-specific storage requirements.
* Existing S3 infrastructure.

## Setup

`AWS_REGION`, `AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID`, `AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY`, `S3_BUCKET` in vly secrets. Upload via presigned URLs from a Convex mutation.
