# Usage limits

> Per-plan caps on credits, projects, members, and concurrent branches. What happens at the cap.

Each plan has caps. When you hit them, you can buy more, upgrade, or wait for the next billing cycle.

## What happens at the cap

| Cap | Behavior |
| - | - |
| Credits | Agent runs blocked until you buy more or upgrade. The editor still works (Code mode, visual edits, hand-edits). |
| Projects | "Create new project" disabled. Existing projects keep working. |
| Members | Invite blocked. Existing members keep access. |
| Branches | Create-branch blocked. Existing branches keep working. |
| Storage | Uploads blocked. Existing files keep serving. |
| API rate limit | `429 Too Many Requests` with `Retry-After` header. |

vly never auto-deletes data on cap-hit — you keep what you have.

## Alerts

Set per-cap email thresholds in Settings → Billing → Alerts. Default: alerts at 80% and 100% for credits.

## Per-tenant limits in your apps

For limits in the **apps you build** (e.g., "free users can create 3 projects"), implement at the data layer. See [Multi-tenancy patterns](/architecture/multi-tenancy).
