# Upgrade / downgrade

> How to change plans. Prorating, scheduled changes, what happens to your data.

Plan changes are self-service for most tiers. Settings → Billing → Change plan.

## Upgrading

Effect: **immediate**. Prorated to the current billing period. Your card is charged the prorated difference.

Example: you're on Pro ($3/mo) and 15 days into the cycle when you upgrade to Business ($30/mo). You're charged ($30 - $3) × 15/30 = \$13.50 immediately. Next month's full Business charge happens normally.

## Downgrading

Effect: **at the end of the current billing period**. You keep Pro features until the cycle ends, then drop to the new plan. No refund.

If you downgrade below your current usage (e.g., from Pro with 8 projects to Free with a 3-project limit), the lowest-priority projects are **archived** at the cycle boundary, not deleted. Reactivate them after upgrading again.

## Annual ↔ monthly

* **Annual → monthly**: switches at the end of the annual period (no early-out refund).
* **Monthly → annual**: immediate. The annual cost is charged immediately; remaining monthly portion is credited.

## Cancellation

To cancel entirely (drop to Free), the same downgrade flow applies. Effective at the end of the current paid period.

## What you don't lose

| Existing projects | Kept (oldest archived if over the new project cap) |
| Project data | Kept |
| Custom domains | Disabled if downgrading to Free |
| Audit log | Truncated to the new plan's retention window |
| API keys | Kept (rate limited per new plan) |
